THE MITTERBERG & THE SURROUNDING
The  Mitterberg is called the "Pearl of the Enns valley". It is a plateau above the Enns valley. To the North one can see the limestone ridges of the continuing Dachstein massif up to the Griming, to the South you have the primitive mountain chain of the Lower Tauern. During Summer as well as Winter many vacation and sports enjoyments are offered to the entire family, like biking, hiking, Nordic walking, jogging, tennis, horse back riding, swimming, tractor riding, train rides, and so on in summer, and skiing, cross country skiing, sledding (on lit routes), curling, and much more in winter.
Part of the Mitterberg belongs to the village of Gröbming, which can be reached by foot within 20 minutes. Numerous stores and a shopping center afford a good infrastructure. The local tourist office also is situated in Gröbming. We suggest you visit the Catholic Church, the country museum, as well as the Kneipp structure in Gröbming/Winkl. Upon driving 12 km up the long, panoramic road to the Stoderzinken, one of the most beautiful mountains of the region, breathtaking views over the Enns valley up to the Grossglockner massif will await you. During the summer you can hike or bike among most unique flora of these alpine pastures to the "Friedenskircherl" (chapel) and to the summit. During the winter the Stoder becomes a small, but wonderful family ski area. The Stoder is also well liked by Para gliders and kite flyers, due to its superb thermal winds.
Only minutes away by car one can reach the Sölk valleys, [Kleinsölk & Großsölk]. The project "Naturpark Sölktäler" continuously offers various activities there.
Our Broadlahn-Alm of the Reisslerhof is located in the Kleinsölk, where we fix the original local delicacy, "Steirerkrapfen" fresh from the frying pan.
The romantic Salza artificial lake has become the backdrop for the movie "Wolfsblut" with Raimund Harmstorf. The street along the lake is now closed to traffic and only hikers and bikers are welcome. The Salza waterfalls are also remarkable.
At the foot of the mighty Grimming lies the picturesque village of Pürgg, also called the "manger of Styria". Schloss Trautenfels, a former castle at the Enns valley floor, offers exhibitions during the months of May until October.
